Pretty palettes - January 2018 Reveal

The end of the month is finally here!

It feels a lot like a Pretty Palettes party around here, as this month’s bead palette is filled with sparkling goodies. Did you get a chance to take advantage of the 30% off sale? If not, be sure to join our new Beaded Jewelry Facebook group where you are first to get sale info and trend inspiration.

Inspired by glistening holiday decorations, the January 2018 reveal continues to dazzle long after the Christmas lights have come down. Let’s take a look at the inspiration and Bead Gallery® beads for this month’s Pretty Palettes blog hop, which are a “champagne & caviar” color combination. The materials are all so rich!

January 2018 Pretty Palettes Bead Gallery® beads & bonus components are all available at the bottom of this post!

This Pretty Palettes design challenge is a great way to jumpstart your creativity! Here’s how to play:

1. On first Wednesday of every month, I share an inspiration image, color palette and a beautiful array of Bead Gallery® beads on the Halcraft blog (see the inspiration post for this month here).

2. Anyone who is up for the challenge purchases all or some of my bead picks (which you can purchase from your couch at home at the bottom of this post or up top under featured collections!). You may also play along with beads from your stash that match the palette and create a piece of jewelry.

3. On the final Wednesday of the month (today!), we share our projects by posting to our Facebook Group - Beaded Jewelry by Halcraft Collection.  If you haven't yet, be sure to join the group.  We promise it's a lot of fun and a great way to show off your own projects!

Bead Gallery® quartz crystal points with gold tone top
Bead Gallery® 6mm silver plated bali spacers
Bead Gallery® 8mm antique silver plated rope rings
Bead Gallery® 8mm antique silver plated bali squares

I must admit that those bonus materials felt a bit like dessert to me: not necessary, but OH SO GOOD when you can get it! I used a few of them in my Garnet & Feather knotted necklace earlier in the month because I just couldn’t wait!

I started out with memory wire and the lighter, champagne- and white-colored beads, with the intention of making a bracelet that used the beads to create organic paths and patches of colors that flowed one into the other, a sophisticated but casual sort of glamor. The Champagne Toast Cuff is a great beginner’s project, as one only needs to know how to make a loop and string beads. I started with the gold rondell beads and added swatches of champagne faceted glass beads that shifted into white glass faceted rounds and finally the lustrous finish of freshwater pearls. The beautiful rhinestone encrusted tassels are perfect for finishing the loops of the bracelet. That extra sparkle and movement is perfect and so simple to add!

The Champagne Toast Cuff is a great beginner’s project and looks good enough to wear to even your own wedding!

The Caviar Nights Necklace is a collection-style necklace.

To balance things out, I created the Caviar Nights Necklace which uses the CZ olivine loop and the rhinestone encrusted mabe pearl. I like to call this sort of necklace a collection necklace because it combines a variety of shapes and sizes of components that work well together but aren’t too matchy. Speaking of components, this necklace gives you the chance to learn how to make your own custom marquis-shaped components with just 10 gold faceted rondells and 5″ of 24-gauge wire.

To finish off this set, I made a simple pair of shoulder duster earrings that are as elegant as they are easy to make. Click the image to open printable PDF instructions to make your own Caviar Nights Shoulder Dusters.

Now it’s time for the Pretty Palette party! We love to celebrate you!
