Welcome to this month's Spotlight!
Halcraft Collection is excited to announce Andria Bieber as our July Spotlight Designer. She has a bohemian soul that shines through her earthy designs. Andria enjoys wire wrapping, but her "go-to" is stringing. If you visit her Instagram page (AndriaBieberDesigns), you will encounter boho bliss. She uses on-trend pendants, charms, and natural stones to create awe-inspiring necklaces, bracelets, and earrings! We love her use of color and texture, especially in her multi-strand bracelets featured on her Insta.

When did you first start beading? Tell us about yourself.
When I was a little girl, my grandmother gave me a box of plastic beads and charms. I treasured these little baubles and admired their beauty (so much that I did not use them for a long time.) One day, I decided to ask my grandmother how to create a bracelet. She taught me, and I made fun friendship bracelets as a surprise for my girlfriends. They loved and cherished my gift!
In 2010 I was living in Kirkland, Washington working as a property manager and decided to be a stay at home mom. I wanted to be there for my two boys, but I still needed an income. As I searched for a fun, creative way to make money, I suddenly remembered the box of beaded bliss and those bracelets! I discovered I have a knack for looking at jewelry and teaching myself how to re-create the design, and that is how it all began.
Tell us about your jewelry business.
I sell my nature-loving, peaceful feeling, bohemian living, fashion inspiring, free spirit jewelry on my website www.AndriaBieberDesigns.com - My jewelry features an eccentric mix of earthy stones, glass, boho pendants, and charms with a splash of copper, silver or gold.
If you are a jewelry designer looking for a new platform to sell your wares, I highly recommend Shopify. I opened my website in 2012, and I’ve been delighted with the results. They give you the freedom and flexibility to craft a fantastic website with easy templates, more photo options, excellent customer service, and I have found it is cheaper than the more expensive handcrafted sites. You are not competing with 30 or more pages of necklaces. It takes a little more work, but the free tutorials make it worth your while!
What is your favorite that you've recently finished and why is it your favorite?
My favorite project I’ve recently completed is my Halcraft Collection natural white mother of pearl pendant necklace. Recently, I created a design with a similar pendant, and it sold very quickly. I purchased this pendant at a bead show and could not find this beauty anywhere. I was excited to discover Halcraft had a beautiful version pendant and their website! The faceted natural moonstone rondelles, freshwater pearls, and the mother of pearl pendant are very refreshing and inspiring.
What are your favorite beading techniques and materials?
My favorite techniques are stringing and wire wrapping. My “go-to” approach is simply stringing. You can create designs quickly, and this technique draws your eyes to the actual beads. There is something special about a simply strung necklace or bracelet with beautiful beads and components. This method of jewelry making is classic… It never goes out of style!
I am a self-taught wire artist. My favorite wire to design with is copper. Copper wire compliments all colors of beads and makes the design more inviting, warm, and earthy (not to mention it is also cheaper!) I enjoy working with metal and have dabbled in metalsmithing and etching for fun!
What are some of your favorite beads or components on the Halcraft Collection website?
Wow, this is a really tough question! There is such a vast selection of stone beads, pendants, charms, and connectors. If I had to pick a few, I would say my favorites are the natural stone and shell pendants, the breathtaking selection of Czech glass fire-polished beads, and the terrific collection of semi-precious beaded strands on www.HalcraftCollection.com.
I love that Halcraft Collection adds new items weekly to the site and look forward to the latest products each Monday. It gives me inspiration, and I enjoy seeing what is trending in the beading world. Halcraft is always on-trend!
Where do you get your beading inspiration? What most inspires you?
I am inspired by the materials on the facade of architectural works. Moroccan and Mexican tiles featured on these building are my favorite. I love the colors, motifs, and intoxicating lines. They really get my creative juices flowing.
I also find inspiration in multicolor Bali or ethnic imported fabrics. The weave, fun color mixes, shine, and tiny metallic threads are delightful!
When going to a bead shop, I like to grab a fabulous pendant and hunt for beads with intriguing shapes and colors. I then take my stash home and create while one of my favorite TV shows plays in the background.
If you had room for only two tools in your bead kit, what would they be?
My first choice would be, of course… my crimping pliers. This tool makes crimping a breeze. Since I love working with wire, my second choice is my wire cutters. I could use my fingers and found objects to manipulate the wire into the style I desire, but I would need something to actually make a clean cut.
What jewelry trends are you excited to incorporate into your beadwork?
I am always searching for new and exciting bohemian trends to incorporate into my jewelry designs. Some upcoming Fall-Winter boho trends are bold and unusual color mixes, layered necklaces/multi-strand bracelets, beads with fun patterns, and vintage components that emit that boho vibe effortlessly (and you can hunt for these treasures at garage sales.) The trending boho accessories are big and bold with layers as well. I plan to create statement earrings, long necklaces, and multi-strand bracelets with electrifying shapes and colors.
