Beads of courage: Arts In Medicine

Anderson (above) was born with a critical congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He has had four open-heart surgeries and eight cardiac catheterizations.

His Beads of Courage tell his amazing story of courage and strength. They remind us how far he’s come in his almost eight years of life and will continue to tell his story of life with half a heart. We love Beads of Courage!

Since 2005, Beads of Courage has been providing innovative arts-in-medicine programs that improve the quality of life for children and teens coping with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, their families, and the clinicians who care for them.

Each child receives Beads of Courage to string onto a necklace to help them RECORD, TELL, and OWN their story of COURAGE! You can learn more about Beads of Courage on their Facebook page

This past week in Tucson, Arizona, during the big gem and mineral show, beading "rock stars" from around the country participated in a bracelet making party to raise money and awareness for this amazing and inspiring organization. We'd like to extend special thanks to Katie Hacker and Tammy Honaman for inviting us to be sponsors again this year. See below for images from the event!

Beading rock star Tammy Honaman (left) used Halcraft Collection lava beads in her beautiful essential oil aromatherapy bracelet cuff.

All of the participants had an amazing time with one of the best teachers in the bead business! Thank you, Tammy!

The lucky participants each created five bracelets in just one evening, so the making was fast and furious!
