When did you first start beading? Tell us about yourself.
I started creating jewelry when I joined the Halcraft team in 1997. In the beginning, I designed for bead tradeshows, promotions, and many of our customer requests for Ads jewelry. My love for jewelry making began when Barbara, one of the owners, would ask me to fix her pearl necklaces when they broke.

Since then, I have found a passion for making jewelry. I enjoy working with so many different types of beads every day. Beading keeps my creativity flowing. Halcraft’s beads, pendants, and charms are stunning. Having these supplies at my fingertips inspires me to create beautiful jewelry.

Tell us about your jewelry business.
I am employed full-time at Halcraft Collection. One of my dreams is to start my jewelry line. Nevertheless, Halcraft has allowed me to express my creative ideas that have translated into many jewelry designs over the years.

What is your favorite project that you've recently finished and why is it your favorite?
Recently, I started the Men's DIY Jewelry line for Halcraft's Inspiration library. I design bracelets and sometimes necklaces for our DIY audience. My favorite stone to use in men's jewelry is tiger eye. It is a very masculine stone, and one of the healing properties is protection, which I love! An added bonus... it is very popular in men's jewelry. I also enjoy creating with lava and wood beads.

What are your favorite beading techniques and materials?
My favorite technique is knotting, especially with freshwater pearls and silk thread. The silk cording gives a dash of charm to the glistening pearls.

I love to incorporate drop dangles to create cascading designs. I find forming simple loops very relaxing. Give me head pins, gorgeous Halcraft beads, and I will create something spectacular.

What are some of your favorite beads or components on the Halcraft Collection website
I adore ALL the beads, pendants, connectors, and charms from HalcraftCollection.com. My favorites are stone and Czech glass faceted fire-polished beads. The colors, shapes, and textures of the Czech glass, combined with natural stone beads, make it easy to create a beautiful piece of jewelry.

Where do you get your beading inspiration? What most inspires you?
My inspiration comes from everyday life. I admire the color of fruit in a supermarket, and it becomes a color palette. Living in New York City, where everyday people express themselves, is a constant source of creativity. For instance, you may see a woman in her 80’s having lunch with friends with an oversize pearl necklace, then down the block, you will notice the sanitation worker wearing a stone bracelet. The inspiration around the city is endless.

Do you have any tips for the readers regarding building their social media reach?
One of the most significant places for jewelry makers to connect with customers or other designers is Instagram. I haven't posted many designs on my Instagram page. However, all of my designs are on Halcraft's Instagram.

I recommend joining Halcraft Collection's Facebook group (Beaded Jewelry hosted by Halcraft Collection) for beaders and creators. Share your work, and be sure to like & comment on other artists' designs. Let them know if they inspire you.

Pinterest is also a great social media tool. Check out Tailwind Tribes to help with Pinterest. Also, don't forget the old-fashioned way! One of my fellow artists shared with me that social media following is helpful but, I've found that real-life connections are still a great way to grow your brand.

If you had room for only two tools in your bead kit, what would they be?
Memory wire cutters and round nose pliers would be perfect. I love creating memory wire bracelets! They are simple and easy to create.

What jewelry trends are you excited to incorporate into your beadwork?

Pearls are trending! I want to incorporate multi strands of pearls with the trendy rhinestone components.

What jewelry techniques would you like to learn?
A technique I would like to learn is wire wrapping. I'm fascinated with the current wire work trend. I love how intricate and delicate these designs look. I can't wait to explore this new area of beading.
