Pendants are big, fun, and make a statement! We have so many pendants that you can find whatever you need to match all kinds of looks: Boho, Bling, Natural, Fancy, Chakra, Modern, Traditional, in all colors, shapes and sizes.
A good way to go is to pick a material that you want, or search by color or shape. If you are looking for stone - we have so many different stone pendants that are carved, faceted, dyed, shaped, and also barely touched and natural. We have some really big pendants that you can see from across the room, and pendants that are small and delicate and have great detail. We have pendants that sparkle as if they are battery operated, others that take Millennia to form and are carefully mined and cut to show the beauty that our Earth can harness. We have faceted, lampwork, sea shapes, holiday shapes, festive, subdued, less subdued …there are a lot. Glass pendants are great because they have great shine, and there are so many directions to go in. The key to good glass pendants is good glass - I'll bet you were not expecting that. We need these to be good looking but also durable. The faceted glass pendants are made using hard glass that does not chip too easily when dropped on most surfaces. A luster is often added to the surface to create more shine as well. Glass Pendants can be a big part of jewelry making, and are a very easy start for a great Jewelry project.
Halcraft Collection has so many Semi-precious/Stone Pendants in so many shapes, and we keep getting more because we love them! Most of the stones come from Brazil. Brazil has an uncountable number of stone mines as there is a lot of interesting geologic action all over the country with volcanic rock as well. There are many caves with geodes. This where our Amethyst comes from - geodes from Brazil. These stones from all over Brazil are collected and then sent to China to be cut into different shapes and looks and then skilled artisans shape the stone and then add a frame or bail to make it a Pendant.
Our Metal Pendants are made from a Zinc Alloy or Brass (which is an alloy of Copper and Zinc) base metal and has different plating colors. The Zinc alloy beads are made in a mold, and the brass are made with cutting machines. These Metal Pendants are Lead and Cadmium free. What we love about Metal Pendants is the incredible shapes and designs that can be made with metal molds and even with machine shaping. Once we get these great designs, there are different plating colors and looks that can be done, so you can choose a metal color that matches your style. If you like big pendants, we have that, small and dainty, got it!
The pearls in our real Freshwater Pearl Pendants are grown in fresh water clams in man-made lakes and grown for up to 10 years! This is why they are called Fresh Water Pearls - it makes sense. The pearls are not seeded, the meat of a juvenile clam is agitated to initiate pearl growth using a cool tool that slips into the clam, so these are 100% pearls! We then sort through these beauties by size, shape, color and quality, and start making pendants. We also have the pearls attached to mother of pearl in the bigger pendants that you see. The Mother of Pearl (Nacre) is the face of the clam shell that produces the outer coating of the pearls. The Nacre formation is a natural process that many clams use to grow the size of their shells over time. It is cool because we are enjoying one of the mysteries of nature, and they look amazing as well!
Our Cubic Zirconia Pendants are the most sparkly pendants that we have! Cubic Zirconia is a "man made diamond". This is not only the first simulated diamond, but the most popular! CZ is made from Zirconium Dioxide stabilized in a cubic structure which requires very high heat. The cubic structure creates high refraction. In other words - it is really sparkly! The natural form of the mineral was discovered in 1892, and no one seemed to care. In 1937, two German mineralogists discovered that when melted the material contained cube-shaped crystals. They found this to be not very useful and did not name this material after themselves, so it is still known as Cubic Zirconia. In the 60's, as scientists were looking for less expensive materials to use in the production of lasers (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), they rediscovered this material. Finally, in 1973, some Soviet scientists figured out how to create this material in large enough crystals for large scale production. These pendants cost a little more than others, but that is because this is an expensive material to produce at this quality. We do love the shine and the fact that they are in so many colors and shapes. When you have a material that throws off so much light, many times you can keep the pendants simple with some straightforward designs with a bunch of facets. These Cubic Zirconia Pendant will make a lasting impression in your jewelry creations!
Many of our Shell pendants are made from the same white shells that the Fresh Water Pearls are grown in!! They can be cut down to any shape and then polished to a high sheen, or left raw to show the exposed nacre on the inner surface of the shell. The way that the shells are built up layer by layer over years by the clam muscle make natural striations and lines that are exposed when they are cut or polished away, like the layers of sediment in the Grand Canyon, but on a miniscule scale and over years instead of millenia. Some sections of the shell will be nearly transparent while others will be nearly opaque, making for additional depth of color and patterns once they are exposed by cutting and polishing. Some of our most popular shell pendants are made from Abalone Shell, which is created over years of nacre production by and Abalone mullusk, creating a solid piece of shell of mixed translucent and opaque qualities that look like a natural rainbow when polished! These shells were once extremely rare and treasured, but now they are grown in special pools and raised to be used in food and in jewelry, making them much more affordable but still incredibly beautiful and collectible.
